In 2020, the documentary’s director had access to the belongings of her maternal grandmother, who had just passed away. Among her belongings was a notebook of recipes. Luisa tried to find out if her paternal grandmother also kept a recipe book and discovered that she did not. To decipher why, Luisa goes to Lourdes herself. The film is then structured around these two parallel narrative lines.

Director’s Biography:
Luisa Macedo directed “Comida de Quintal” (2022), her debut short film as a director, about women and their backyards in the Greater Belo Horizonte area. The film was shown at festivals in Brazil, France, England and Italy, and won awards at the UN festival, the World Food Forum Film Festival (Rome, Italy) and the Cibo Corto Festival (Siracusa, Italy).
She also directed the short film “Comida de vós” (2023), made with funds from SESC RJ.
