The film portrays the family history of German writer Angelika Schrobsdorff, who fled Berlin for Bulgaria in 1939. The family story closely follows the dramas of the 20th century: the dictatorships and the Cold War, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and conflicts in the Middle East.

Director’s Biography:
Hristo Bakalski is a Bulgarian film producer, curator, and cultural manager, as well as the director of the RIFE International Documentary Film Festival. He holds a degree in German Studies from Germany, and his professional career has been closely connected to the European documentary and art-house film scene, spanning between Sofia and Berlin. He is the founder and partner of several production companies, including “Film Contact” and “Bul Doc”, and co-founder of “Bоurough Film”. He was a Director of the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Berlin and has extensive experience as a film programmer and curator, having developed film programmes and retrospectives for prestigious international events, including the Berlinale and initiatives associated with the Goethe-Institut.
